HOW'D SHE

GET HERE?

When you think of the name Beyoncé, she does not encompass one readily apparent identity. Beyoncé has embraced intersectionality at the forefront and developed a loyal fan base over her twenty years as a performer because she connects to such a wide demographic.

The insecure person who’s inspired by “Pretty Hurts.”

The mourning person who empathizes with “Heaven.”

The recent divorcee who listens to “Ring Off.”

The new mother who connects to “Blue.”

The black person who’s empowered by “Formation.”

The rising law student (myself) who’s inspired by “Who Runs the World (Girls).”

All of these people have found a way to listen, connect, and follow Queen Bey herself. Beyoncé is elusive publicly, but extremely present throughout her music. Some may even call her an introvert. But, why, when, and how did Beyoncé develop this iconic status to be able to reach such a range of people?
